You can contact the Direct Marketing Assocation and have your name and number taken off of these lists but you should bear in mind that having done this you may never receive a call with information that is pertinent to what you want. One way to handle this is to provide enough information to make sure that you only receive calls / offers that match your needs. And, then finally remember these guys and gals who call are simple trying to earn a living so if you are not interested then simple say so because they are generally measured on the number of calls they make, people they talk to and then sales made - every time they call some who hasn't been honest enough to tell them so; they get penalised for it.

I love to play phone tag with those guys. This what I do: Tell them you are interested but very busy (in a meeting or something), and you need their number to call them back. They can't give you any number because all these characters work in some sweatshop call center. This is where the fun starts.... Ask them the classic question, "if you phoned me than how come you don't have a number"...demand an answer to that question. Eventually they give up, say they will phone later and add you back to the call list. They have a system that dials numbers automatically. Odds are that somebody else will phone you later or the next day. Start from the top again. I once went about 12 days with Nedbank before they finally gave up on me :P
